We have 2 clients using squarespace because it seemed like an easy way for them to start by themselves, but as you mention in the article, its very restricting.
It also makes any kind of custom work much more time consuming for us because instead of being able to work on an offline copy, with our preferred development tools, we are forced to make live updates via point and click.

I hope more potential first time website owners read this and follow your suggestion.
